HUES
DIVERSITY IS THE NEW CLIMATE JUSTICE
There is something heroic about a leader who parachutes into a situation that is seemingly a dead end and resuscitates things into some form of normalcy. Equally impressive, if not more, is a leader who inherits a seemingly functional system but chooses to stir things out of complacency. Likewise, when Kaone Tlagae took the reins to lead the vision of the Leaflet, birthing HUES was a way to highlight the intricate and yet fundamental reciprocity between social justice and climate sustainability.
As in the words of Manish Bapna, racial injustice, a legacy of colonialism and the subsequent widening divide in our social fabric host a current of injustice and inequity. In order to move the needle towards zero carbon emissions, all people of different backgrounds, races and occupations need to be involved. What we do makes a difference, and every person’s action collectively sums to push in the right direction. This is the underlying notion for HUES and we, at the Leaflet, hope this edition stirs not merely hope but inspiration to do better in small ways, everyday.
